All Things Original case study

All Things Original is a website that links a multitude of designers and craftspeople from around the UK and houses them under one brand. The website showcases the sellers, and provides a unique platform for the presentation of unique and original items.

All Things Original were looking for a partner that could deliver a robust online sales platform with a strong brand identity and a wide range of features.  All Things Original approached a number of potential partners, but were attracted by our transparent pricing, enthusiasm and personal approach to our work.

Design

It was very important that the brand would be translated well throughout the website and that the look and feel was consistent, we worked closely together to achieve this throughout the project.

We began the design phase by looking at the incorporation of the illustration and brand into a series of bespoke templates. At this stage of the design we provided mock-ups and wireframe diagrams illustrating the website functionality, design and e-commerce procedure.

The designs evolved from initial black and white ideas into the colorised final designs that are now present throughout the website. We took sections of larger illustrations and re-worked them to create the small featured borders and illustrations that highlight products and promote consistency of the brand.

Content management

An important part of any e-commerce solution is the content management, as All Things Original is run solely online, this needs to be stable, feature rich and easy to use. The content management system allows staff to create, update and manage products, whilst managing purchases and customer details all from one place.

We customised our content management system to include advanced options for adding multiple materials, colours, and textures to assist the product loading, making it easier to create and maintain products.

We developed a bespoke delivery and returns policy system allowing All Things Original to create advanced delivery options, vital for products that are hand made and have a variety of delivery times, prices and possibilities.

E-commerce

The e-commerce process includes the ability to ship items to multiple addresses, perfect for customers buying gifts for friends and family all from one place and with only one purchase necessary.

During the purchase process sellers and staff are notified of the sale and receive the order summary and customer details via email, sellers are able too print a delivery note to attach with the order for dispatch.

Marketing

To begin with we researched the market to position the website, we carry this out at the same time as the design to make sure that the design incorporated all that was necessary for the website to be effective in Google and other search engines.

From the initial research we make recommendations regarding the placement of descriptive text and of course meta content to maximise the exposure of the website.

Result

All Things Original now have a end to end solution that enables them to manage and trade effectively online, they are fully supported by us and we look forward to the success of All Things Original.
